Tips to Prevent Door to Door Scammers
Did you know that most people who come to your door are salespeople? They usually have no experience or very limited knowledge in roofing, construction or the service field they are representing. The sole goal they have is to get you to sign a contract for services. This is actually, in many cases, how they get paid. Prevent Door to Door Scammers.
Be aware! As the Maryland Attorney General’s office has released a public advisory to help residents recognize and avoid various door to door sales scammers. Check out the article with the list of common scams at this link – CLICK HERE
Just a few of the door to door scammers out there are:
- Water Filtration Scams
- Fake Solar Energy Provides
- Fraudulent Utility Representative
- Third-Party Energy Supplier Scams
- Home Improvement Scams
The number one item that we and the Attorney General’s office suggest is –
Conduct a thorough research on any business before agreeing to services. Check them out online, through Google reviews, verify they have a valid, current Maryland license (there is a website for that too) and remember a legitimate salesperson will provide identification and avoid high pressure tactics.
